When I got married and shifted to Chennai, guess the first thing I did? Explore the best places to eat and chill! Well, now that we are stuck indoors with Netflix and chill, I thought, why not reminisce about those good old times? Also, you guys can try out these places when it’s safe and let me know if this was a good suggestion 🙂
Let’s get started!
*Disclaimer: The list is in no particular order
- Pind
Want to feel Punjabi in Chennai? Head straight to ‘the land of five rivers’ via Pind. This authentic Punjabi ‘Dhaba’ has done everything right from ambience to food. While they have amazing food, what I loved most is their refreshing masala chaas! It perfectly balances the heat in Chennai.
- Tosai club

Tosai club comes under one of those rare places where both North and South Indian cuisines taste equally good. With a pleasant ambience, soothing music, and fulfilling food, this restaurant has surely made its place in my heart. Though not a fan of Paneer, I loved their Paneer Butter Masala.
- Kipling café

Want to spend a romantic evening with your partner? Look no further, here’s Kipling café that can make your evening a pleasant one. This place is so mesmerising that it lets your inner version come out and enjoy the peaceful time. When you visit this place, make sure you try their mud cake with vanilla ice-cream.
- Writer’s café, Gopalapuram

Writer’s café has spread out its wings all over Chennai and we went on an impromptu visit to its Gopalapuram branch. To be frank, it doesn’t resonate much to our perception, but the food is yummy. Do try out their cream of mushroom; it really takes you to a different world, a good world!
- Pitcherr Perfect

The moment you step into this place, you forget you are in India. When we visited, there were hardly any people present, and it was just perfect! Full stars for food, ambience, service and I happily recommend this place. When you are here, try out their Virgin Mojito (this is for non-drinkers, obviously!), you’ll love it!
- Wow! Momo
If the above restaurants are out of your budget, I have something that satisfies your taste buds without harming your wallet. I am a bit picky when it comes to Momos as not every place serves best ones. Wow! Momo is my pick for momos and I loved their Veg Darjeeling pan fried Momos. The only advice is, choose dine in over takeaway.
- Murugan Idli shop

Last but not the least, Murugan Idli shop in Besant Nagar is famous for their mouth-watering, hot Podi Idlis. This is the first place I tried when I shifted to Chennai and trust me! You won’t be disappointed.
Most of these are pure vegetarian places so people like me wouldn’t miss out on yumminess. I am sure there are many places I am yet to explore, so do mention your suggestions in the comments.
If you have visited any of the above places and loved any dishes, be selfless and mention in the comments so that others can try out as well 🙂
