Do you love or hate reading books? If you love, you are in the right place. And if you hate, I think it’s time to rethink. There was a phase in my life when I was confident that I hated reading. But then, I read one of the following books and guess what? I haven’t stopped reading since then!
So, without further ado, let’s get on with the blog.
The Shiva Trilogy – by Amish Tripathi
Trust me when I say this, this series has changed my perspective on books and reading. If you haven’t read this book already, I am sure you would have heard about this at least.
This 3-part book comprises: The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas, and the Oath of the Vayuputras, the first book is the one that made me rethink reading. My favourite book among these three is the second one.
This book is the modern adaptation of the lives of Lord Shiva and Sati, and is bliss to people who love reading mythological books.
The Palace of Illusions – by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
Over a few years, we are exponentially hearing the word – feminism. While there are way too many perceptions on this concept, my perspective is reflected in this book.
This explores the story of Mahabharata as in the eyes of Draupadi. While we all have heard the stories in the eyes of Lord Krishna or Arjuna, it is this perception that adds sensitivity to the story.
If you are thinking to start your reading journey, this would be my suggestion for you to pick. Simple language and known story with a fresh perspective that makes it easy to grasp.
Many lives, Many Masters – by Dr. Brian Weiss
The storyline and story of this book might sound a bit on the lines of fantasy, but it is for the moral takeaway for which you need to read this book. The story is about a woman who undergoes psychiatric treatment as she suffers from severe mental health issues.
If you are someone who is thinking to try a new genre in reading, I would highly recommend this book. The positive outlook on life explored here is what the world needs in these times of difficulties.
The Silent Patient – by Alex Michaelides
I can write and write positive reviews about this book, but it will never be enough! Since the beginning, this book engages you, and the climax is ought to make you awestruck!
This is the story of a therapist who uncovers a shocking revelation about one patient that never spoke…for 6 years! Well, this description doesn’t really cover the story, but I wouldn’t wish to spill anything.
If you are one of those few people who hate reading, I recommend you to read this, and you can thank me later! I’m not talking more than this. JUST READ THE BOOK!
The Girl on the Train – by Paula Hawkins
I am sure most of you might have heard about this book, as both Hollywood and Bollywood have made movies. But the original version is always classic and organic, and these movies don’t do any justice to the book.
Maybe the reader in me is exaggerating a bit, but the book is worth a read. This is because it successfully had a mental influence on me all the while I read this book.
These are my favourites, and I might update this list in the future. Is there any book that you would like to recommend? Do mention in the comments. And if you have read any of these books, do share your opinions.
