In my previous blog, I had mentioned my new career path, and what seemed like a pipe dream is finally becoming a reality. The time has finally come for me to reveal what this career path is and how that’s going to change things for me.
Story time
About 7 years back, I changed my career from Software Test Engineer to Content Writer. In every interview, there is one question that is constant – where do you see yourself in five years? I asked myself the same question when I thought of this career option. Back then, AI was still in the making, and I never thought of how things would change for a content writer due to this AI wave.
Keeping this in mind, I thought of multiple options that I could choose, like digital marketing, columnist, content creator, etc. There was one path that crossed my mind, and my answer was instantly a no. And that path was becoming an Author.
Yes, I never considered this path for me as being a good author needs true talent and dedication. I thought I did not have the discipline it takes to write a book. However, it was my husband who thought that I could and would become an author one day.
I am finally going to become an Author!
The time has come for this seemingly pipedream to become a reality. I am going to be publishing my first standalone book.
How and when did this happen?
So, last December, I took a break from my job during my pregnancy. While I thought that I would rest during the whole pregnancy phase, I wasn’t quite ready with the break part. Hence, I considered freelancing for a while, but nothing of prominence reached my way. Hence, I quit everything and in one instant, it hit me that I could try my hand at writing a book.
I knew what to write and started researching on it for two months. Up until this point, I was still doubtful about this path. I finished my research and started writing the book, with the same doubt in my head. And finally, when I approached the publishers and they proceeded with the manuscript, I knew it was happening.
Regarding my professional journey, I still am a Web Content Manager and would very much like to be on this path in the future. Being an Author means a lot to the little girl in me, who was always passionate about books and storytelling.
This is my dream (more my husband’s) in the making for close to 7 years. I sincerely want to thank my husband for believing in something that I did not for the longest time. With this blog, I also request all you readers, who have always encouraged my writing, to support me on this new journey.
