This day last year, God decided it’s time to bless us and sent us an Angel. And hence, came into our lives, this cute little angel – Joey, our pet dog.

It’s been a year and well, let’s just say we are blessed!!

This blog is all about how things changed after we met Joey and how he taught us few things.

A newfound belief in ‘Family’

A family is something that makes you believe in love. A dog who leaves his/her own parents to live with you, can anything top that? I mostly used to wonder how dogs can just be there with you, for you. And that’s when I had a new respect for these cute little pets. They consider us their family. For them, we are it. And if that doesn’t make people believe in the power of family, I wonder what can.

    Happiness can be your choice

Whenever I’m down, angry, or anxious, I have no idea how but Joey just knows it. He immediately comes to me with his goofy nature to just make me feel all better instantly. I see him and I’m happy. When I’m on a work pressure or basically have my head all over multiple tasks, I just pause and take a look at this bundle of joy who’s just excited to see me. This statement is absolutely true – If you’re lucky, a dog might come into your life.

These instances are true examples of the fact that happiness is your choice.

      Living in the moment/present

We humans have simply complicated the existence of life. All about “life is short, love and live to the fullest” has become just a saying for most people. But look at dogs, they truly have understood this line. I see Joey notice a housefly and suddenly he is on an attack mode, or I see him stretching his paws and dig that wall at the corner of the house with such passion. I have no idea what it means, it just brings me to the reality, no matter where my mind would have wandered. He defines ‘living in the moment’ to a whole new level.

        Unconditional Love

I come home tired, Joey is there with his automated wagging tail.

I am crying, Joey stops everything and just comes to me.

I am scared, Joey comes and sleeps on my lap.

I am exercising, Joey dances around.

I am angry at Joey, he wishes for me to calm down and then pampers me.

This is the love that the world is so desperately lacking. The purest form of love, true love, with no expectations.

Being a child forever. Be Young.

There’s a reason why people say – no matter the age, a dog is forever a puppy. They get excited for simple things like a plastic bottle, they are happy for just your presence, they are naughty constantly, they have the power of selective hearing which makes them naughtier, and not to forget, the love to play, constantly. Often times, due to societal pressure or increasing needs, humans forget their inner child. To add to this, some even force others to just forget their inner child and “behave”. But why? Life’s small pleasures include being mentally free, like a child. If you cannot keep the child in you alive, how can you be free completely? How would you discover the true ‘YOU’, the one that’s dormant due to increasing demands of your lifestyle? Hence, having a dog keeps you attached to your inner child, the one that’s vibrant and full of life.

While most people may or may not understand these little aspects of having a dog in your house, these are my observations. I hope all the good humans of the world get to enjoy this god’s greatest creation.
