Remember the year 2012? Most of us were waiting for the doomsday and petrified, wondering how the world ends. Well, it didn’t, and we all woke up to a new day. Fast forward to 2020, most of us hoped desperately that 2021 turns out to be a good year.
Reality check: It turned out to be crazier than 2020 and mostly, in a bad way.
Hello everyone! I know I have been AWOL for many days because like most of us, 2021 had a shocking package for me, and obviously, I wasn’t ready. Every time I thought about my next blog topic, I used to be blank.
Until this moment when I realized the best way to end 2021 is to list out all the lessons this year taught me in my public journal.
So, here are the lessons and I hope this might help you:
- Accept your Vulnerability
If there’s one thing I should call the ‘hard-hitting truth’ of life, I’d say the acceptance of being vulnerable. Recently, I realized the biggest hindrance to being myself is my vulnerability.
This is an obvious reason, yet it took me a while to realize because sometimes in life, we escape reality just to be in our comfort zone. But when you face it, reality becomes our zone of comfort.
In simple words, if you feel vulnerable, accept it. Because, only when you are vulnerable, you will get to meet the ‘real you.’ Love that person and ensure you become a better version of that person.
- Be Responsible
The only person who is responsible for you is YOU. Stop blaming others for what you could have done, or stop blaming yourself for the fault/destiny of others. Putting your happiness in others is similar to wearing their shoes, it won’t fit you.
Most of us have heard this phrase – We all have our baggage. Buddy, take care of your baggage and that’s it! While this might seem far from reality, accepting it is going to take you places, and trust me, you shall see a well-defined version of your life once you take the responsibility for it.
- Be Confident
Life is uncertain and we all got a clear-cut example of this statement. Hence, the best lesson I got in 2021 is to embrace this uncertainty of life. Live life the way you want and not how others command. Things work in your favor when you’re confident in life and follow your instincts.
You want to pursue your passion, go for it. You wish to stay single, be single. Do what your heart says but be mindful. So, wear that outfit of confidence and show your savage face to the world.
- Be in ‘Now’
I do not know if I will ever wake up to see tomorrow and so are you. I always dreamt of sitting in a nice balcony in my home, admiring nature, and sipping filter coffee. When that became my reality, I found myself being unhappy. Something was missing, then I realized, it was me, I was missing. I was so lost in the future that I couldn’t see the reality.
All I am trying to say is start living in the present for your peace of mind. The future is uncertain and so is your life. Stop living in the past or in the future. I am cent percent sure that it is easier said than done but there is no harm in trying. What do you think?
For those who have endured so much in 2021, I am here to congratulate you and say “Hey! You made it till here.” So cheers to that and living in 2022.
