My Top 5 Comfort TV Shows

Similar to many, I also enjoy watching TV shows and have my share of regulars that mostly run on TV. Especially during postpartum, when mental health is on a toss, these shows give a sense of familiarity, giving me a glimpse of my old identity to associate with. So, in this blog, I have listed the top 5 of those TV shows that are practically my comfort zone:

Big Bang Theory

At the top 5, this show has a unique blend of science with humour. Who could have guessed that a group of scientists talking science and people would watch that as a show? And that too running for 12 seasons, Sheldon! Is this your sorcery? I love this show for this aspect, and I re-watch this often if I am in the mood for some ‘science’ humour.

Gilmore Girls

When I first saw this show, I honestly didn’t appreciate it much due to a lot of problematic scenes and character arcs. Thanks to me being a mother to a daughter, now this show goes to a whole new level. I used to watch this from a daughter’s POV before I became a mother. Now the mother’s POV brings a fresh and rather mature perspective. I appreciate this show for being a contributing factor in my emotional growth as an adult.

Brooklyn 99

Let me start by sharing this – I love this show! I adore Jake and Amy, Terry, Captain Holt, and Cheddar. I love this show for its quirks and how something as serious as a police department drama is converted into a comedy show. Granted, it may not be as light-hearted in real life, but sometimes, all you need is an illusion to make sense of the present.

Modern Family

As the name suggests, this family drama embraces the sweet transition of a traditional family to, well, a modern family. The transition is chaotic, funny, emotional, bittersweet, and many more, and I love this show for the same. The comic timing of the actors is just perfect, and they perfectly carry emotional sequences in a way we crave that love. Love this show for giving us hope that some transitions in life may look haphazard, but they end well.

Friends

My most favourite show – this one’s like the Bengaluru style tomato soup – sweet, sour, warm, and my comfort zone. This show is like a warm soup on a cold night, very soothing and, as Joey says, “It fits”. I have written a detailed blog on why I love the show Friends, and honestly, I totally understand the fan base for Friends. The concept of this show was a brand-new idea, and no one thought it would work, but we all fell in love with the six goofy characters.

There are a couple of other shows that I watch on repeat, but after a point, I don’t watch them anymore. But the above shows are ones that I always repeat till the end. Do you have any such comfort shows? Do let me know!
