Many of you wanted to know the inspiration for writing this book, and I am going to talk about it in this blog.

As a fan of Indian mythology, whenever I am shopping for books, I tend to spend more time near this section. I have seen many books and read a few in this genre. My observation is that most books are derived from our epics – Ramayana and Mahabharata. The books are written either as a derivative or from someone’s perspective.

In the quest of finding a unique POV that I could explore, I found the translation of Devi Bhagavata Purana. As I read the book, I learnt some interesting perspectives through the same stories that we have all heard in a different way. This became my primary inspiration to write about Devi Bhagavati.

My secondary inspiration was that I wanted our future generation to know the stories of Indian goddesses along with Indian gods. I wrote the book considering both elders and children in mind. I hope that the stories shared in this book inspire people to promote more empathy in the world. I wish that this book empowers women to pursue their dreams with confidence. And, I hope that this book encourages parents to teach their daughters to be strong and independent with passionate dreams and ambitions and not restrict them to stereotypical roles.
