We all have a travel destination in our heart that offers a sense of comfort and the memories that this place gives us stand beyond ‘travel’ or ‘vacation’. Such places are a reminder of something like ‘good old times’, ‘our childhood’, ‘our wild and stress-free version’, etc. When you visit these destinations, you feel more than just relaxed, it so happens that you might discover a hidden trait in you, maybe a new you.
One such place for me is Coorg. I have been to Coorg probably about 8 times and still wish to visit this place. The beautiful aspect of visiting Coorg is that every time, it is associated with a new experience, a new vibe, and of course, a new memory. I remember visiting Coorg as a kid and again for my first wedding anniversary. Both times, I went to the same places yet, the vibe felt different.
Summers in Coorg
Typically, summers in Coorg have always been cooler compared to even Bengaluru. Of course, due to global warming, the temperatures are getting warmer, but the lush greenery still compensates for it. Hence, it became a thing that me and my husband unintentionally visit Coorg most summers for our wedding anniversary as it is in February.
Pet’s Paradise
Since Joey is in our family, we wish to take him on trips to make memories. However, due to certain limitations in India concerning the public spaces being pet-friendly, it is challenging to find a place that fits all our requirements. Until, we took Joey to Coorg and it stood out with its offerings. There are pet-friendly and pocket-friendly resorts and stays in Coorg where you can stay with your pet and feel relaxed without getting bored. Here are the two stays I recommend:

Riverside Coffee – Estate Stay

Here is a cafe that is on the way to Coorg that I recommend for good food, amazing coffee, and pet-friendly:
Food
Coorg’s unique food is a blend of diverse flavours with a coconut base. Unlike other surrounding places, I feel Coorg has a comforting approach to food which is an impressive factor. While there are so many places in Bengaluru that explore different cuisines, somewhere I always feel that everything tastes mostly the same. So, when I visit Coorg, the food there is just perfect – offers the comfort of home while actually tasting different.

Time-Travel
Being from Bengaluru, I have witnessed the rapid transition of Bengaluru’s urbanized version. The city is unlike how it was probably two decades ago. However, when I visit Coorg, the cultural and traditional vibe of this place reminds me of those times when I used to visit this place as a college-going kid. A part of Coorg, this way, reminds me of the ‘Old Namma Bengaluru’.
Tourist Attractions
Most places that we normally categorize as ‘tourist attractions’ anywhere in the world, they tend to disappoint some people due to many factors like cleanliness, crowd, quality, etc. However, some places in Coorg have a peculiar aspect of still bringing out the beauty of the tourist attraction amidst the distractions like the Golden Monastery or Nisargadhama. I think there is still time for these places to lose their beauty like all other tourist attractions of the world.
Conclusion
Overall, Coorg is a comfort place for me, it is that one place which is beyond just a vacation. From diverse places to visit to making a beautiful memory with family and friends, Coorg is a home for many who come from a different place altogether.
