I love reading books and it is one of my very few hobbies. My love for reading books started at a very young age. But studies, school, academia, etc., just had to take a significant prominence and so, reading novels and comics took a backstage in my life. My favorite genre is Indian Mythology and over the years, my curious brain took an interest in exploring other genres.

Hence, here is part 2 of a list of books I read last year that had the best reading experience. You can read some of my other book recommendations in Part 1[AI1] .

Angie Pallorino Series – Loreth Anne White

Plot: The book is about Detective Angie Pallorino and her adventures with finding the killers while getting a grip on her life.

This one has to be the most out-of-nowhere-found genre for me. I had been to a book fair where I found the second part of this series – The Lullaby Girl. After reading the second book, I got to know that this is a three-book series and realized the first book of this series would sort of become a prequel in my case.
Well, I went on to read both the first and third books, and boy! I fell in love with the articulation skills of the author Loreth Anne White. All three books were equally engrossing and the stories are compelling, overall, this entire series is Unputdownable! Overall, I would recommend this series if you are on the verge of picking your next detective novel.

Kalki Series – Kevin Missal

Plot: The book is inspired by the tale of Lord Vishnu’s upcoming avatar – Kalki. This story is about Kalki Hari who is born in Shambala and how he emerges to be the savior of the dreadful Kali Yuga.

Kalki is again a three-book series with Kalki being the protagonist and Kali as the antagonist. Kevin Missal ties the tale of Lord Vishnu in a brilliant and relatable way.

The book explores the vulnerability of the character, the supreme-ness of other characters, and how the combination of all the factors aids Kalki in eliminating the Adharma. Now Adharma in this book takes you by surprise and well, I have to say that I was completely fascinated by this series.  

Verity – Colleen Hoover

Plot: This book narrates the tale of a struggling writer who accepts a job to complete a novel by a famous author.

 The ‘It Ends with Us’ author Colleen Hoover has received some mixed reviews for most of her books. Her books explore a different perspective, one that most humans wouldn’t dare to accept. That unique quality of the author makes Verity, an interesting read.

The story begins in a casual tone with the characters having a normal lifestyle. However, as the story proceeds, it takes weird turns with the unveiling of each of the character, their next moves, their basic traits facing some unexpected challenges, etc.

Overall, I feel this book is a good read for someone who enjoys a fast-paced suspense novel. Of all the books I read by Colleen Hoover, this is my favorite book.

The Shining – Stephen King

Plot: This 1977 horror novel, written by the ever-amazing horror author – Stephen King explores the story of a family who moves into a hotel as caretakers. However, the hotel has an obnoxious mix of spirits and secrets which may be fatal to this family.

To all the horror fans! Do you all know that I love horror movies? Here are my most favourite horror movie recommendations[AI2] ! However, a rather surprising thing I found out was that I had never explored the horror genre in books, especially being a book lover and horror genre lover. And any horror lover knows the one book that they ought to read in their lifetime – The Shining!

Stephen King has absolutely nailed the plot, with the twists, cliffhangers, and drama that come together along with it.

If you think you are a true horror fan, I say, pick this book and just enjoy the reading experience!
