Imagine, you are working on a big task given by your Manager. You are totally stressed out on the pressure of completion. You feel like you need a break. Then a four-legged cutie runs across your laptop and tries to cheer you up? How nice would that be??

Yes, imagine how would pet culture at work be?

Recently International Take your dog to work day was celebrated all across the globe on June 21st , 2019. While most of the famous companies like Google encourage this, there are some which are still in the discussion stage.

Here’s the advantages of having pet culture at work:

1. Stress levels drop: Bringing a pet to work creates a happy environment, which in turn reduces the stress. Also, research says that the stress levels drop by 11% by bringing pet to work.

2. An interactive environment: You can start a nice conversation between people and finally end the day with a nice amount of good thoughts. Know that if you’re crush is interested in pets, you can probably interact and end up with a date as well.

3. Employee-friendly Company: The employees feel good vibes when the company encourages pets. They feel that they would be valued in the company.

Let’s now see the disadvantages:

1. Allergic or fear among employers: Some of them would be allergic to the pets while some would fear. This hinders them to sit in their desk, thereby becomes an unproductive day for such employees.

2. Distraction: When a pet enters the office, most people concentrate on them and hence might end up not completing the task assigned for them.

3. Not an encouraging workplace: There are some cases where the office space or the landlord might not encourage pets to come at work.

On the brighter side, Let’s now see how can we overcome the disadvantages and increase pet culture:

1. Dedicated day: Plan a day in such a way that the amount of task that day can either be compromised or can be very little. This way work stress would not haunt.

2. Pet Health: The pet should be allowed only when its medically proven that the pet is healthy.

3. Designated area for the pet: Instead of allowing a pet to hover through all your desk, there can be one particular place designated only for pets. Pet owners and interested people can visit them. This way, the allergic or person who fears would also not get affected.

While the trend is increasing and many competitors are encouraging pet culture, one might have to think twice to not encourage it and instead provide an Employee-friendly environment.
