2. The Kamakhya Devi Temple, Assam

This Devi is also called as the bleeding goddess! Here’s an interesting story behind:
When Sati sacrificed herself in the fire, the furious Shiva held her on his shoulders and did the Tandava. To calm him down, Lord Vishnu started cutting Sati’s body parts with his ‘Chakra’. The womb and the vagina fell in this place.

Here , there is a 3-day annual festival called “Ambuwasi Pooja” where the goddess is believed to menstruate and the pond water behind the temple becomes red and this water is considered to be holy.

3. Mehandipur Balaji Temple, Rajasthan

I must say, this is a paranormal experience as this temple is famous for Exorcism and Spine-chilling practices. I myself got a little scared while going through many articles regarding this. Legend says that there are 3 deities here- Lord Balaji (Lord Hanuman), Pret Raj, and Bhairav. Lot of interesting rules are followed here. One such rule is that there is no prasad served here. In fact, it’s a rule that devotees aren’t supposed to eat or drink anything here.

Also, when we visit any temple, we generally hear bells sound. But here, we hear people screaming their lungs out. Interested to try some thrilling experience? Head to this temple!!

4. Karni Mata Temple, Rajasthan

This is the temple of Rats!! Yes , that’s right. There are over 25,000 rats in this temple and the food these rats consume is considered to be auspicious. The story behind this temple is that Karni Mata’s son Laxman was drowning in water. She convinced Yamraj to spare him.

Yamraj agreed with a condition that she and all her children should be reincarnated as rats. There are few white rats in this temple which is believed to be Karni Mata and her children and that seeing them would be auspicious.

5. Lepakshi Temple, Andhra Pradesh

This story of this temple is mostly known to many. There is a 15ft monolithic Nandi present here. But the surprising fact is, there are around 70 pillars in this temple, but one of them doesn’t touch the ground perfectly. People have tested it by passing through a sheet of paper or a thin cloth beneath and it has successfully passed through. Nobody is ever been able to explain the Engineering behind this structure.
